Two-thirds of young Australians say climate concerns are having a negative impact on their mental health. Mission Australia's Youth Survey found the environment has become the number one concern for young Australians — yet most have no tools to process that anxiety in a healthy way.
Blue Minds addresses this head-on with a free, interactive 60-minute workshop delivered to high schools, TAFEs and universities across Australia. The workshop — co-designed with youth mental health experts at Orygen — equips students with practical tools like gratitude, values alignment, and ocean action to move from overwhelm to empowerment.
In 2025, Cooper and Kal represented the Blue Minds program and The Good Human Factory at the United Nations Climate Change COP conference in Brazil — speaking to international delegates about the intersection of youth mental health and environmental action.
The program also features Kal's acclaimed documentary RISING UP, which instils hope and motivates young Australians to take positive action for the environment. Kal has spoken at TEDx and multiple United Nations Climate Change COPs, and was named Environmental Citizen of the Year 2023.
